Our January cause cupcake, “bizzy lizzy”, is a very personal one for me. It came about on a recent trip to Bali, Indonesia when a very good friend introduced me to an inspiring woman, Miss Elizabeth, and a group of abandoned Indonesian children. Miss Elizabeth and her mother, Hetty Tumundo, run a small orphanage out of their modest 3 bedroom home and for the past 30 years they have opened their home to abandoned, abused and neglected children. As Indonesia does not have the social safety net that we have in Canada however, they receive no government funding and rely on donations, 100% of which go directly to provide basic necessities for these children.

After meeting Miss Elizabeth, I was inspired to do something to help support her and her mother who have dedicated their lives to helping children. The amazing group of young women that work for us at Cupcakes were equally enthusiastic about this important cause, so we created the “bizzy lizzy” cause cupcake. Proceeds from the sale of “bizzy lizzie” cupcakes will be donated to help provide food, clothing, and education for these children.

The bizzy lizzy cupcake is a lemon cake with cream cheese frosting and topped with a bumblebee and is available at all locations for the month of January
