dress_you_up

The mission of Dress for Success is to promote economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Founded in 1996 in New York City, Dress for Success is a global, non-profit network of affiliated organizations that provide interview suits, a support network and career development tools to clients in over 75 cities.

For the month of September, Cupcakes is proudly donating a portion of the proceeds from every dress you up cupcake sold to help fund the Dress for Success Vancouver Society and create a future for disadvantaged women who want to take charge of their lives.

The dress you up is a vanilla cupcake finished with purple buttercream and decorated with a fondant bow.

This is an annual cause cupcake in partnership with the Dress for Success Vancouver Society to help create awareness for the local organization and help disadvantaged women re-enter the work force. The Dress for Success cause cupcake will be sold throughout the month of September at all 5 Cupcakes Bakery locations.

Heather and Lori want to thank Jonathan Michel and Major Brian Venables of The Salvation Army for coming to speak to our staff and raise awareness about human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Vancouver.

In partnership with The Salvation Army, Cupcakes is supporting the fight to end human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.

Thank you to The Salvation Army for opening our eyes and hearts to this important issue.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Heather’s mom, Kathie White, has been the friendly voice of the Cupcakes order desk since Heather & Lori opened Cupcakes on Denman in March 2002.

During a routine mammogram in June 2007, Kathie’s doctor diagnosed her with stage one breast cancer at the age of 59. She underwent an intensive bout of radiation therapy twice a day for 5 days and is now part of a research study group to help fight Breast Cancer. Kathie now takes Tamoxifen and will be considered cancer free in 5 years.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Cupcakes is proudly donating a $1 from every Breast Cancer Cause Cupcake sold to help fund research for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and create a future without breast cancer.

The Breast Cancer Cupcake is a pink vanilla cupcake finished with pink buttercream and decorated with the Breast Cancer Ribbon in pink fondant.
This is an annual cause cupcake in partnership with The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to help create a future without breast cancer; the breast cancer cupcake will be sold throughout the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) at all Cupcakes Bakery locations.
